Trucking Industry Outlook, Careers in Trucking Offer Bright Futures

Are you getting tired of earning barely above minimum wage, with no benefits to speak of, and zero potential for growth? Maybe it's time to think about getting your commercial driver's license and becoming a professional truck driver.

If you're wondering whether or not it's a smart move to get into the trucking business, recent numbers and trends all point towards a resounding, "Yes!!" Can you imagine how it would feel to never have to worry about whether you'll ever be out of a job? You don't have to imagine it anymore, because with the economy improving, the demand for truckers is going up. In addition, the industry is already experiencing a shortage of drivers. We believe this is because potential drivers simply don't know about the benefits that being a truck driver has to offer.
Getting your CDL is an investment that pays off right away

The industry as a whole needs to do a better job of reaching out to that segment of the population that fits the potential driver demographic. Most people know all of the trucker stereotypes, and maybe some of the negative stories that make national headlines, but that's usually where it ends.  Where are the industry commercials about professional truck drivers, and the articles that explain all of the different opportunities out there, once you have your CDL? How many of you know that the required investment of time and money into getting a CDL can be earned back within your first MONTH on the job? That is, if you're not already being reimbursed for trucking school by your new employer.

With truck drivers always in demand, the future is always bright!
We at SWTDT do our best to educate our local markets about all of the great benefits of becoming a professional truck driver, and it is working. We have people of all ages and backgrounds dumping their old jobs for a career on the open road. People who may not have considered it as an option before are knocking on our door and earning their CDLs, because they realize just how easy it is to get started. The pay is as good or better than many careers requiring 4-year degrees!

Now, getting back to job security. So you have your CDL, and you are working your first job. Then something happens, you have to move to another state, and are forced to quit your job. You could have a new job at a new company by the time you reach your new destination. With globalization, delivery trucks have become the blood pumping through the veins that are America's roads (as well as all of North America, Central America, and beyond).

How did those supplies get there?! Magic.
This means that America NEEDS truck drivers to survive. Without medical supply deliveries, for example, hospitals will begin running out of supplies within 24 hours. People's lives depend on those deliveries. Everything you buy, consume, furnish your home with, etc, was delivered by truck. The trucking industry is far reaching, touching every single other industry in some way. Its importance and impact on American society and our economy can not be stressed enough. So if you're ready to have a solid and secure career that is rewarding, exciting, and impactful, contact us at one of our three locations today.
